The Building Trades in Rhode Island are well
organized and aggressively pursue employment opportunities for
their members and signatory contractors.
The majority of RIAGC contractor members are signatory to two
or more trade union contracts. Initial affiliation is usually
with the Carpenters and Laborers.
RIAGC has a Labor Relations Division that provides collective
bargaining on behalf of designated signatories with the
Bricklayer, Carpenter, Cement Finisher, Iron Worker, Laborer
and Operating Engineer. Management and Labor work to maintain
harmonious relations for the benefit of both sides. Contracts
will expire May 30th 2005. The IW expires May 29, 04
The RIAGC Labor Relations Division is affiliated with the
Rhode Island 21st Century Labor Management Partnership. Other
participants include local affiliates of: the National
Electrical Contractors Association; and the Mechanical
Contractors Association, and the Rhode Island Building Trades
Council, representing 18 construction trade unions.
